Protecting the drinking water supply
Backflow prevention devices stop water from a property flowing back into the public drinking water supply. Water Corporation requires containment protection on water and fire services, and testable devices need to be tested by an accredited backflow tester.
Reflow tests, installs and repairs backflow prevention devices across Perth. After testing, the tester lodges the test report with Water Corporation, which is required within five working days of the test.

Who needs backflow protection?
Most commercial and industrial properties, and some homes with features such as rainwater tanks connected to the mains, bores or irrigation systems, need backflow protection at the water meter or at the point of risk. The level of protection depends on the hazard.
